Hattie Haggard Contemporary and Hip Hop Instructor
Hattie Haggard, from Plano, Texas, is a company dancer with Dark Circles Contemporary Dance in Dallas, TX. She graduated in May 2015 from Southern Methodist University (SMU) with a BFA in Dance Performance and a BBA in Business. She performed works at SMU by artists such as Joost Vrouenraets, Mel Tomlinson, Antony Tudor, and Joshua L. Peugh. She choreographed numerous pieces during her time at SMU. Hattie also studied at other dance institutions including San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Complexions, Bolshoi Academy, and ImpulzTans in Vienna, Austria. Hattie danced with Thodos Dance Chicago for two years in Chicago, IL. During her time with the company she performed works by Melissa Thodos, Brian Enos, Anne Rienking, Kevin Iega Jeff, Shannon Alvis, Garfield Lemonious, and Bella Lewitsky. Hattie had the privilege of performing Melissa Thodos’ 1986 solo, “Reaching There,” in TDC’s Final 25th Anniversary Performance. Hattie choreographed a piece for TDC’s New Dances 2016 and 2017 series. Her work entitled, “Show a Little Taste” was reviewed by the Chicago Tribune as “One of the program’s standouts…with a real knack for stagecraft.” Recently, she was awarded the 2017 Emerging Choreographer for METdance Company in Houston, TX. She set a work on the company titled, “Are you cading me?” premiering Summer 2017. She wants to thank her family, friends and God for their constant support.
